Frequently asked questions
Using The Bit You Missed at the cinema
How can I catch up after missing part of a movie?
Open The Bit You Missed, pick your film and set roughly how far into it you are. Find the last thing you remember in the recap, then read the lines after it. See how it works.
Do I need to know when I left?
No. The dial asks roughly how far into the film you are now. Your memory of the last thing you saw helps you find where to start reading.
Will I see scenes ahead of the film?
The recap uses your estimate, so its timing is approximate, and it can run roughly one scene ahead. If the last line has not happened yet, tap it and choose Hide: that line and every line after it come off the recap. “Reveal scene” adds one scene per tap; stop revealing when you are caught up.
Can I use it without a cinema signal?
Open the web app on the day, while you have an internet connection, and let the film list finish loading before you lose signal. The app saves the downloaded catalogue on your device for offline reading. A first visit needs a connection, and clearing your browser’s stored data removes that saved copy.
Do I need an account?
You can currently open the web app and read without an account. The account requirement for reading is switched off for now.
Why can’t I open a film in the lobby?
A film without a ready recap appears as an inert row. Only films with something to read can be opened.
Where can I use the app?
Use the web app in your phone’s browser, and add it to your home screen if you like. The App Store and Google Play versions are coming soon. Open the web app.
How do I report a wrong line, or contact you?
Tap the line in the recap and choose Wrong, or Out of order if it sits in the wrong place. For anything else, email theBitYouMissed@outlook.com
